NORTHERN PROVINCE LECTURES 2019

The function of Ecclesiastical Law in effective parochial ministry

The Rt Revd Nick Baines

Date: Tuesday 16 July 2019.

Timings: refreshments at 17:00, lecture at 17:30 with a 19:00 finish.

Venue: Leeds Diocesan Office, Church House, 17-19 York Place, Leeds, LS1 2EX.

Hosts: Wrigleys Solicitors LLP.

The Rt Revd Nick Baines will speak about how law is vital – good law even more so. Taking ecclesiastical law seriously can set parishes and clergy free, rather than burdening unnecessarily.

Bishop Nick became the first Bishop of Leeds, an area covering West Yorkshire & the Dales, in June 2014. He was previously Bishop of Bradford(2011-14), and before that Bishop of Croydon (in the Diocese of Southwark). He read German and French at Bradford University and, before ordination, worked for four years as a Russian linguist at GCHQ.
