Fourth Prague Dialogues on Church and State Relations: Spiritual Care in Public Institutions.

The Fourth Prague Dialogues on “Church and State Relations: Spiritual Care in Public Institutions” took place in Prague from 13th to 15th June 2019, organized by the Church Law Society and the Faculty of Law of Charles University. The subject of the papers was the provision of pastoral care by religious communities through specialized chaplains and their associates, for the benefit of the army, prison system, health service, education system, police and fire brigades, victims of crimes, terrorism and natural disasters.

Among those giving papers was ELS chairman, Prof. Mark Hill QC, along with Prof. Gerhard Robbers (Trier), Prof. Adrian Loretan (Lucerne), Prof. Francis Messner (Strasbourg), Associate Professor Damián Němec (Olomouc), Prof. Balázs Schanda (Budapest), Prof. Piotr Stanisz (Lublin), Dr Martin Šabo (Trnava), Prof. Wolfgang Wieshaider (Vienna and Prague), and Associate Professor Záboj Horák (Prague). The conference was well attended by representatives from Czech universities and members of the Czech ecclesiastical law community.
