March 13, 2020
We regret to announce that, in response to the current Covid 19 pandemic, it has been decided that the ELS Day Conference and AGM scheduled for Saturday 28 March should be cancelled. Today, 13 March, the Chairman has e-mailed all members of the Society as follows:
“Dear Members and Supporters,
The ELS Day Conference scheduled for Saturday 28 March is cancelled. It will not proceed, nor will the Society’s AGM which was due take place on the same day. As you will understand, this is in response to the current Covid 19 pandemic. A fuller statement will be issued next week giving details of the Society’s revised schedule of activities over the coming months.
This decision has been taken, with much regret, after consultation with the President, the Standing Committee and the Trustees, taking into account the advice of government and health agencies on the likely spread of coronavirus and the risks for our members and the wider community.
Please remember in your prayers all those already affected by this virus, and the thousands of dedicated public servants in the health service and elsewhere on whom great demands will fall as the situation worsens.
With all good wishes,
Mark Hill QC, Chairman of the Society”
