Bishop Nick Baines on ecclesiastical law in parochial ministry

On Tuesday 16 July 2019, the Ecclesiastical Law Society was delighted to welcome The Right Reverend Nick Baines, Lord Bishop of Leeds, as guest speaker at the latest in its series of Northern Province lectures. Bishop Nick spoke on the topic of ‘The function of ecclesiastical law in effective parochial ministry’ and drew on examples from his personal experience to highlight the central role played by ecclesiastical law as an aid to mission. He made an impassioned plea for a sound grounding in ecclesiastical law to be made a key part of the training of new and prospective ordinands. The Society takes this opportunity to thank Bishop Nick for his entertaining and stimulating contribution to the lecture series.
